Overview

The potential for the rotational moulding process to reduce the capital cost of wave energy converter structures is investigated. A screening exercise matched a wide range of composite materials (from strength enhancing carbon and graphene nano additives to unique antiā€fouling composites) to relevant device concepts while ensuring the solution is as commercially applicable as possible.

Material selection was undertaken in parallel with detailed device design and load modelling with the final material selection optimised to a final device design that maximised levelised cost of energy metrics.
